30 Day Blogging Challenge: A Recap

I made it! I finished my 30 Day Blogging Challenge. When I started the challenge 30 days ago, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to keep up, but somehow, don’t ask me how, I did!

The 30 Day Blogging Challenge

The 30 Day Blogging Challenge is a challenge setup by Sarah and Kevin Arrow of Sarke Media. During this challenge you’re supposed to publish a new post every day on your blog. Sarah and Kevin both help if you have any questions and you get an e-mail every day with tips, tricks and challenges. I also joined their Facebook group and connected with other bloggers who were doing the same challenge.

My Experiences and Challenges

The biggest challenge for me truly was keeping up with publishing and writing something every single day. But no matter if I had inspiration to write or not I managed to produce something. Looking back I wouldn’t say all my posts were top quality, but I also learned that I shouldn’t try to perfect everything cause that way I will never finish a post. Sometimes you just gotta do it, publish it and move on.

Upcoming Changes

One of the things I didn’t necessarily learn,  because I knew it already, but this challenge has only emphasized my need to make that change, is that I need to separate my social media accounts into separate languages. As you know I write my blog both in English and in Dutch. And while I was publishing something new every day I also posted it on my social media channels and posting the same article twice but in a different language seemed a bit too much to me. So I will be keeping my existing channels in English but will be making new ones specifically geared to my Dutch audience. It’ll take some time getting new followers and fans on all those channels but I think it will only be beneficial for those that enjoy my articles. In the end I’m writing for those that enjoy my articles and want to make sure I don’t ‘spam’ them with unnecessary information.

My most viewed post

pasteis de nata, portuguese custard tartsMy most viewed post during this challenge has been my blog about the Portuguese Custard Tarts, Pasteis the Nata. I noticed it was also pinned quite a few times on Pinterest so that might have something to do with it.

If you want to know which posts I wrote and recipes I shared during this challenge take a look at my 30 Day Challenge archive.

Now what?

For now I will be taking posting a little bit slower and won’t be posting every day for a while so I can use the days that I’m not publishing new articles on my blog to work on getting my social media channels sorted. I will be posting at least 3 times a week though and will start to increase again once everything else is sorted.

I have truly enjoyed the 30 Day Blogging Challenge and will probably do it again one day. Every day I wrote and published a post I got new insights on how I want to proceed with my blog. It’s been a great experience.
