Puff Pastry Cheese Sticks
Puff pastry cheese sticks are a great party snack. They’re really easy to make as well. I’m surprised I haven’t shared a recipe for these cheese sticks sooner!
How To Make Puff Pastry Cheese Sticks
You only need 3 ingredients, cheese, puff pastry and an egg (which somehow rolled its way out of the picture…). (The full list of ingredients including measurements can be found in the recipe card below).
Lightly flour your work surface.
Place your puff pastry sheets on the work surface. I used two 4 inch x 4 inch / 10 cm x 10 cm puff pastry sheets but you can also just use one big sheet. This recipe is really flexible, it’ll just be a matter of adding some more cheese if you’ve got more puff pastry.
Lightly brush the puff pastry with egg.
Sprinkle generously with cheese. Make sure you use a flavorful cheese. I like to use an aged cheese cause it has a nice saltiness to it. But you can also use Parmesan or cheddar or any flavorful cheese to your liking. All the flavor in this puff pastry cheese sticks recipe will come from the cheese so don’t pick a cheese that isn’t packed with flavor.
Take a piece of baking paper and put it on top of the pastry sheets.
Take a rolling pin and roll over the baking paper to make sure the cheese sticks to the puff pastry.
You can see the cheese sticking to the puff pastry.
Use a knife or a pizza cutter to cut out strips for your puff pastry cheese sticks.
Take each strip and twist it.
Put the twisted puff pastry cheese sticks on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in the oven till golden.
You’ll end up with a delicious, crispy treat. Fit for any party!
The puff pastry cheese sticks are best served straight from the oven. You can make them in advance as well, however they could become a bit soft. If you prepare them in advance just pop them back into the oven for a few minutes before serving and the sticks will be crispy again.
